Modem disconnects

For some reason when im downloading my cable modem will disconnect and i will have to unplug it and plug it back in to reset it, this only seems to happen when im downloading. Any help on what to do? I'm on a small network but I've hooked one computer directly to the modem with same disconnect results.

A few things come to mind:
- check your cable lines for crimped lines.
- try a different RJ45 cable.
- if you are running your modem via USB, I would definitly opt for going with a network/ethernet card setup.

Look a bit further down the page for NTL broadband + Winxp (8 replies) - seems this is a common prob with USB modems !!

Check those lines as suggested in my earlier response. You may also want to try going to the web site of your network cards manufacturer and look for an updated driver.
