I am in need of a little advice about a MoBo. The mobo i want to purchase has onboard sound. I now have a HP mobo and the sound is built into the phone modem. The modem will not work with XP so i installed another modem which allows me to get on the net, but i lost all my sound and there isn't a place to plug a sound card into. The mobo i want has on-board sound, does that mean i can get audio without a sound card or if i elect i can get a super sound card and update according to XP. Is this a good thing or will it hamper things in the future if i try and build a better sounnd system. thank you VJ

you can do both with an onboard sound MOBO you will have sound if the drivers are XP ready(most new MOBO are)Some of the newer MOBO actually have 6channel sound. when you decide to purchase a new better sound card you can disable the onboard sound and just run the sound card. both onboard and seperate card should have connections for internal sound modem.
