During installation of xp mmcdnmgr.dll was not installed b/c it woudlnt' read it off the cd. well now i can't open mmc, i can copy the driver off of the cd to the HD and place it in the system32 directory but it still wont' open. i can't use device manager or nuttin. any ideas?

Try this ... Start, RUN, type CMD or command.com, OK; then after command prompt type "sfc /scannow", Enter. Original XP disk must be inserted. Takes a few minutes to replace corrupted or missing system files. OR you could try re-installing Win XP; choose Upgrade option to save your personal files.
