When I turn my computer on, I receive the following message... 'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: C:\Windows\system32\config\system. You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."
So what I do is restart my computer and just press 'r' as it's booting up and it boots up normally, and Windows runs fine afterwards. I don't use the CD, I don't go to System Recovery Console, I don't do anything but press the 'r' on boot up. Every time I want to start my computer, I have to do that or it gives me the error message. I have seen all the other fixes that have been suggested on this site but I don't know that anybody else can start up by pressing 'r' or not. This seems to be very strange and I wondered if anybody has seen this before? Thanks!
