I hoping that someone out there has seen this before. When going to device manager if I go to the properties for a device (such as a hard drive or an IDE channel) there is no tab for Advanced Setting. The tab is there on other machines in my house, though (they are all on SP2).
My guess is that some setting I changed (perhaps with TweakUI or Xsetup) or something I installed has caused this. I have done several searches on Google and only found one reference to this - a post on another forum from someone with the same problem. But, no solutions.
So, if anyonw has an idea of what setting has caused this or where in the registry I could look, please let me know.
Thanks.

Yeah, it's supposed to be there. But, apparently some setting has changed to make them disappear. It appears on my other PCs (all running XP SP2). But, I tweak my main PC more than the others, so I am guestting it has something to do with that. I just wanted to check my DMA settings for my Opticals and my hard Drives. I wonder what other features of all of my devices I do not have access to?
The link XP User provided didn't have a solution and I was unable to do a system restore as far back as I wanted (plus I have had problems using it in the past). But I do have a couple of images of my hard drive that I will try. One was just after I installed WinXP and drivers. The other was done after my initial setup. I will try both and see if the setting shows there.

If you have installed an IDE driver such "Intel Application Accelerator" or another specific drive, you will not have an "advanced settings tab" in the property menu of the Ide channels in Device Manager.
That's normal.
To get management over the transfer mode (DMA mode, PIO mode...)of your devices, you must find the specific driver's control program on your PC, normally on "Start menu > All Programs > Intel Application Accelerator" or similar.I hope that this could help you.
