If NO setting has been created for 'unused icons' what-would-cause/how-can-I-remedy the absence of some icons, such as USB removal; Connection; and Volume; ?

Right click a blank area of the Taskbar,
then click Properties,
then uncheck the box for "Hide Inactive Icons", if you want to.
OR
Click the 'Customize...' button,
then in the "Behavior" column, single click the item next to the Icon you want to show, then change setting to 'Always Show'.

I did preface my question with "If NO setting has been created for 'unused icons'" - so I had already looked at that. There was not even an entry for those items, to be able to choose hide/unhide
