Hello, Would someone please help me, I turned off system restore then re-enabled it and now there's no system restore in system tools. I have no way to run it! I tryed looking in files and folders but nothing came up. But when you go to where you can enable and disable it, it says it is monitoring in the system restore tab from properties from My Computer.

Create a new shortcut with the following target
%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
Make sure you have the following written to the Start In box
%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

Shortcut have nothing to do with going into the registry. Right click anywhere on the desktop, select New, select Shortcut. Copy and paste this command
%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
in the first dialogue box. Then hit Next. Type in System Restore as the name for this shortcut. Windows XP will automatically assign the corresponding icon for this one.

After I copyed that I did exactly what you said, and it made a shortcut that says system restore, but when I click it it brings up a folder called system. Which has files and folders of the system! But when I put the same command in run it pulls up the system restore program. Then when I put the second command in run from your first post it pulls open a window with everything in my start menu. And there all in folders.

I as looking through the internet and I found a way that seems pretty easy, first right click on an open space of desktop and select new, shortcut. Then paste, %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe and then click next then type system restore, you get the icon and shortcut back.
