Hello all. I did a fresh install of XP Pro on an NTFS partition (formatted during installation). Everything went fine during the install and everything is working fine except for one thing. When I view the properties for an object, there is no SECURITY tab. There is a QUOTA tab, which I know is only available on an NTFS partition, but no SECURITY tab. Here's my system specs:

Pentium III 650 (O/C'd to 800MHz)
128MB RAM
40GB Maxtor HDD:
Partitions
C:\ (Primary - NTFS) 487MB (System)
D:\ (Logical - NTFS) 27.13GB (Boot)
E:\ (Logical - NTFS) 1.02GB (Page file)
F:\ (Logical - FAT32) 9.53GB (Backup)
Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer
D-Link DFE-538TX 10/100Mbps NIC
NVidia TnT2 display adapter
Toshiba DVD-ROM
HP CD-Writer Plus (4x4x24) CD-RW

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Disable simple file sharing.

To do this, open windows explorer, click on tools then folder options. In the view tab all the way to the bottom is the "use simple file sharing" check box. Uncheck it. You may have to restart.

Hope this helps!

I tried clearing the 'use simple file sharing' option in folder options, but I STILL do not have a 'security' tab. The 3 tabs i have are general, sharing, and customize. How do I get the 'security' tab to appear?

I had the same problem using 2k & nt, it was because I had disbled some services that were needed for this tab to show. Look in control pannel -> admin tools -> services, and make sure the workstation or server is started (I forget which one affects this tab)

Good luck
