Alright, I am also having problems with missing ntldr. I just bought a 80 GB HD and ran the install, hd is working properly from what I can see. When I try to install windows, It stops at "Setup is starting Windows." If I could get into windows I could copy over the ntldr, boot.ini etc to my hd and all is fine. From what I've read, another thing that causes the missing ntldr is having your CMOS / BIOS setup wrong. I tried resetting my MBR, fixed my bios settings and cmos settings, and the problem persisted. When I change my first boot device to CD-ROM, I get the following, "Boot Sector Write ! VIRUS: Continue (Y/N)." Can I boot off of say like norton 2005 to remove the virus? why do I have a boot sector virus if the HD is new? Is it possible that my XP cd is corrupted and that's all?

Hi Adam, hello everyone
Turn off the virus protection in the CMOS setup. Anytime something tries to write to the Master Boot Record the BIOS detects it and displays that warning.

When I had this problem, nothing worked. Not even reformatting my harddrive. My reccomendation is to reset your BIOS. That is the only thing that worked for me. I have an "Ultimate Boot Disk" that has programs on it to allow me to do this. Find your own way. Good luck.
