I was trying to create a Kaspersky antivirus boot disc and it requires winxp pro sp2 installation files. While it was copying files from my windows sp2 xp disc it returns an error saying "mnmdd.sys can't be found."
On http://www.file.net/process/mnmdd.s... it says the file is a Windows core system file located in c:/windows/system32/drivers. When I searched my system (used the same windows cd for installation) the file is also missing. Is this file necessary?
I have only found 2 sites that have this file available for download but they are charging $20! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was trying to create a Kaspersky antivirus boot disc ...
Following whose procedures? Your own? What's wrong with ordering bootable CD from Kaspersky if one exists?
BTW all Windows core system files are hidden from users obviously for our own good.

I was creating the boot disc through Kaspersky's wizard. I have also enabled the option to view all hidden/core system files.
It does not appear that a bootable cd can be ordered from Kaspersky.....
However, I managed to create the disc w/o the system file and it appears to be running correctly. Thanks for the help.
