Missing icons to executable files.

OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: Athlon XP2000

Everytime I download executable files such as demos or patches, the icons change to a square window icon in a few hours or the next time on turn on my computer. Not only that, they also take longer open when I try to run them under the new icons. How do I change the icons back to their respected icons?

First thing I'd suggest checking would be the file extension association in the Folder Options (File Types tab)...

Also look through your Event Viewer because it sounds like you're problem may be more than misassociated extensions...
