They should still be in my documents folder.
and you should have backed up anything important before upgrading!

I'm helping a friend who didn't. I couldn't find her files. They also created two users. His files were there. Hers weren't.

Don't you just love helping friends AFTER they have encountered a problem. An over-the-top upgrade almost always results in problems simply because it's likely that there were progs etc incompatible with XP.
They ignored the instructions in setup menu to back up before continuing.
I could be wrong but I don't think an upgrade instal of XP will automatically set up multiple user accounts. Only the first user's stuff will be saved.
If you know the file name of any of the second user's documents then you can do a search of the system for that file name. make sure you enable showing of all hidden and system files to ensure a full search. You can probably expect there to be ongoing issues with the upgrade instal even if you manage to find the missing documents/files.
My recommendation would be to start over.
Back up those files/docs. Make sure you have available all XP compatible drivers for system hardware. Have the original ME instal disk + XP instal disk.Format the drive.
Instal XP as a clean instal. Even if it is an upgrade version you can still do a clean instal. It will ask for proof of qualifying operating system and at that point you put the ME disk in the CD drive. After verification re-insert the XP disk and continue with the clean instal. Guarantee a better result than upgrading.Of course it means you will have to reinstal all other programs etc but the time spent doing that now will be repaid many times over in less future problems.

There is an option to revert back to ME after Xp has been installed, a sort of 'undo'. I remember from when i upgraded, however i cant remember how! lol!
And, i doubt it, but it MAY restore files from before the upgrade. Worth a shot?

When I upgraded from Windows 98Se to Windows XP all the old user profile directories were moved and renamed but not deleted. For example, for a user named eric:
Win98: C:\Windows\Profiles\eric
WinXP: C:\Documents and Settings\eric.Windows 98
In Windows XP I did this:
Logged into my account (admin privs)
Create a new eric user
Logged into user eric (this created all the new profile directories)
Logged back into my account
Copied files from his old profile to his new one. That is,
From: C:\Documents and Settings\eric.Windows 98
To: C:\Documents and Settings\ericI repeated this for all the other users. None of the files stored their user documents folders were lost.
