May not be the autoplay file but the registry that is corrupt. You may want to try autoplay fix for registry. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330135

If that fails that then you will want to extact the Autoplay.exe from your %systemroot\windows\i386 directory or from I386 directory on the Win XP CD.

GoTo Start-->Run-->CMD
Type: CD %systemroot%\windows\I386
Expand filename.ex_ filename.exe
move filename.exe to %systemroot%\system32
Exit
reboot and test autoplay again.

**Notes**
1.filename equals the name of the missing file
2. Subtitute your System Partition, ex. C:\ for
%systemroot%
3. Move directory name is where ever the file is located
4. you can searh for your autoply file in I386 by reading the file names
5. Make sure you are viewing all File extensions, Disable "Hide extentions for known file types.
