missing driver?

Acer Aspire 5610-2013 notebook
March 30, 2010 at 04:22:11
Specs: Windows XP, 2Gb
Acer Aspire 5610
I have a missing driver in the device manager :
Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus

just has a question mark against it.
I tried downloading some of the drivers from the Acer site but none seem to work. Any ideas on what this is related to? Is it the mobo drivers?

Could it be causing problems with my USB soundcard for use with Skype? Sound seems a bit crackly.

Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus is driver for a 56K Analogue Voice Modem. That means a Modem that will record and play incoming voice messages.

If you have an analogue modem built into the laptop and you are not using it disable it in the BIOS, other wise download the Modem drivers for the laptop.

make sure you install the "Chipset Driver" for your model
from the Acer driver-download website. Ideally, the chipset driver
should be the first driver you install, followed by sound driver,
graphics driver etc.
