I have read the information in the forums re: missing DISPLAY PROPERTIES tabs. Well, sorry to bring it back up, but I a smiliar problem, I think. When I right-click on my desktop, and go to PROPERTIES, I get the DISPLAY PROPERTIES box, with no tabs. If I select, for example, MY CURRENT THEME and click APPLY, I get a PLEASE WAIT modal, and THEN my tabs pop up. I looked in the registry for the .../POLICIES/SYSTEM key, but there is no /SYSTEM area, only /POLICIES/EXPLORER. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem? WinXP Home SP2 on a Compaq Presario Notebook, R3140US model, NVidia graphics card. Thanks.

Copy the following into Notepad and call the file display.reg and Double-click the reg file to import into the Registry. This will restore all your display tabs.
Text that needs to be copied into Notepad:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoActiveDesktopChanges"=hex:00,00,00,00
"NoActiveDesktop"=dword:00000000
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000
"ClassicShell"=dword:00000000
"NoThemesTab"=dword:00000000[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"NoDispAppearancePage"=dword:00000000
"NoColorChoice"=dword:00000000
"NoSizeChoice"=dword:00000000
"NoDispBackgroundPage"=dword:00000000
"NoDispScrSavPage"=dword:00000000
"NoDispCPL"=dword:00000000
"NoVisualStyleChoice"=dword:00000000
"NoDispSettingsPage"=dword:00000000
"NoDispScrSavPage"=dword:00000000
"NoVisualStyleChoice"=dword:00000000
"NoSizeChoice"=dword:00000000
"SetVisualStyle"=-[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop]
"NoChangingWallPaper"=dword:00000000Regards,
Jay

Ok, I followed your directions, and when I double-clicked on the file I created called display.reg, I got a modal that said
REGISTRY EDITOR
Cannot import C:\Documents and Settings\Len\My Documents\display.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor.
OKIs there something I need to do to the display.reg file to make it fly?
