I am basically having the same problem described in these threads: http://computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/44584.html http://computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/43799.html Basically what happens is that when downloading a file through irc's DCC file transfer the entire computer will hang for a few seconds and then will stop hanging for a few seconds. It continues to do this until I restart the computer and I don't have any connection to the internet while it is occurring. It is really strange since sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't. Also, IRC isn't the only program that makes this occur. When I tried downloading the new wolfenstien et demo game using a program called bittorrent, the same problem occurred. I haven't used that program since it happened because it happened every time I restarted my computer. I've had this problem for a long time now and I see that some others have had the same problem, has anyone figured it out?

i'm having the exact same problem. my computer hangs about halfway into the download. i looked at the microsoft support page but it's all greek to me. is there a better solution?
