I like to keep the task manager in the system tray so I can monitor processor usage and reference RAM usage etc whenever I want. To make the manager reside in the tray you have to select "hide when minimized" in the options menu. If not, it will stay in the task bar when minimized. The problem is sometimes the little icon shows up in the tray and sometimes it does not. If I CTRL+ATL+DELETE, the manager always pops up without any problems but only randomly does it reside in the tray. At most I have 9 icons in the tray, so there is plenty of room. I’m using the classic windows skin, no inactive icon hiding enabled.
I did try a task manager reset reg key to no avail from this site

Thanks,

I find that Icons will hide when there is no activity with the Icon, like clicking on them, and will hide in a day or so of inactivity.

GB49, You may want to check out the Free version of "FreeMeter" available at the link below. It's a great small program which will give you the info you desire.

or, you could get the creator of Hijackthis, merjin's Uptimer here. it's really customisable, at the moment I have my uptime, upstream/downstream, Free RAM, Free Pagefile, CPU Usage, running processes (you hover your mouse over it), remaining battery, my IP and netstat info (hover too). So yeah, it's a bloody handy tool. Hell, it can even block the ads in Kazaa, Morpheus, Grokster and Refosearch. It's got a lot more stuff too.
