Occasionally when I startup and get to the logon screen, my comp restarts. Check in C:\Windows\Minidump and theres a new entry. The first page of it opened in notepad is

PAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGE
PAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGE
PAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGE
PAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGEPAGE
PAGEPAGEPAGE... and so on

Can I assume this is referring to a Page File problem? Currently mine is controlled by my system. Should I switch it to No Page File Set? If I do will this affect my performance?

Thanks, but what do you mean by "to a specific location"? I only have one HDD, 40GB with 21GB free.

Disabling your page file will only slow down some memory intensive programs. I suggest you leave it at xp manage it and run CHKDSK /R from the recovery console. You may have a some bad sectors on the HD.

I've tried chkdsk before with no luck. Any suggestions on what I should do with Page file? I've got 512MB Ram, so should my Paging file be about 1024?

Page file when managed by xp is 767 mb. with 512 ram.
You say you tried chkdsk. Did you run CHKDSK /R from the recovery console? If not, do it and then post back.

On the boot you should get an option to boot to xp or the recovery console. If you do not get that option go start-help and support, and search for recovery console and follow the instructions to install it.

per - Thanks for the help, and sorry for all those questions, it was just my first time in the recovery console in a long time. Ran chkdsk /r, no minidumps yet. Thanks again.
