Hi guys,

I would really love some help on this little problem I've been having with my machine. I'm running got a P4 1.9 on an ASUS P4S8S motherboard with 512mb of RAM, a 64 mb G4 4200 video card, and a 40 gig hard disk.

When I'm playing games the computer sometimes (most times) locks up and reboots, and gives me the following error:
Error Report Contents
C:\windows\minidump\MINI111503-04.dmp
C:\docume~1\Tom\locals~1\temp\wer3tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

It's always the same error, so I've got a feeling it's something obvious.
Now the weird thing is, it only happens when I'm playing games. For normal desktop work (i.e surfing the net, applications etc) it's perfectly content, and will never lock up or reboot. I've gone into the bios and made sure that nothing special has been setup, so everything's on default. I've had my hard disk and ram physically scanned for any errors, and it was fine. And I've already downloaded the latest drivers for my video card, motherboard, windows, you name it, etc, so I'm about two steps from shotputting my computer out on the street. Any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tom

Sorry to report that it is likely your video card. The nVidia cards and/or drivers have become flaky it seems. I switched to an ATI and have not experienced one in a year. heavy duty graphics seem to get them to misfire.
Sory that I do not have a better answer--just my common poor experience with nVidia

Hi all.

I'm having the same problem as you Tom. It only started recently - on Friday (21/11/2003) night / Saturday (21/11/2003) morning. On Thursday I installed the nVidia 52.16 (I think) drivers and a new version of ZoneAlarm. I have since rolled back the drivers but that didn't seem to help. I've now done the whole resetting the pagefile.sys process. So here's me crossing my fingers.

my boyfriend and i just purchased a computer one week ago and the same error and issues are that TOM has, we have as well. our system shuts down/reboots itself spontaneously regardless of the program we.re in (we have XP Home).

unfortunately, under *windows update* - i don.t have the choice for "system recovered error message update" - it.s simply not there on their site. i found similar choices but nothing like the file you (robbiedickon) listed to download.

i would like to try this first - before deleting "mini.dmp" files or having to 'restore' the C:\ drive.

we also get the following error:

BCCode: fe BCP1: 00000002 BCP2: 822087D8 BCP3: 81C9E008 BCP4: 8217BA28 OSVer: S_1_2600 SP:1_0 Product: 768_1

which from what i.ve found so far = some programs with non-compliant drivers that need to be updated. any resolution to this?

thanks ahead of time...cutemonkeygrrrl

Hi cutemonkeygrrrl.

My problem seems to have been resolved by one of two things:
a) I uninstalled the newer version of ZoneAlarm is installed. or
b) By having the system manage the page file size.
