I've upgraded my parent's PC and am getting this same error (minidump + sysdata.xml problem). It happens randomely, a lot on start up and sometimes the computer resets without warning. It's had this problem for months now + I'm STILL searching for a solution!!! Okay, first of all my specs then I'll tell you what I've tried:

Shuttle AK39N Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2200
512 DDR400 RAM
120GB Maxtor HD
PNY Verto GeForce4 MX 440 Graphics card

Running Windows XP Professional 1

I've every solution I've found on the internet but to no effect, have tried replacing the graphics card (was originally an Abit Siluro), low-level formatted hard disk and reinstalled windows xp, have tried replacing the Hard Disk, re-installed Windows XP, done a full windows update, tried changing page file settings to all imaginable combinations, reset the page file, deleted minidump files and directory, updated all drivers to the latest versions and critial updates, and service packs, updated the USB2.0 driver patch for winXPpro... I think that just about covers it all, but I still get the same error!!! This is bewildering.. I'm an experienced system builder and my family are beginning to lose faith in me.

My next step is to replace the RAM. If that doesnt work, then I'll replace the Motherboard. If that doesn't work, I'll try to install from my copy of windows XP and then after that I'll consider replacing the power supply (!). If that If THAT doesn't work, I think I might actually take it to PC world and watch as they get confused, or I might sell the parts and upgrade to an Intel PC.

Anymore suggestions, or if you've solved this on your PC, please do post here as I'll be checking up frequently. Cheers

PS CPU & system temp all around 30^C so it can't be an overheating problem.

I was having the same problems. The motherboard was bad. Look at the capacitors on the motherboard as well as the ones in the power supply. They look like a small tin can. The top of the caps should be flat, not domed.

A power surge took mine out.

Hope this helps.

Yoyo,
Have checked all capacitors on the motherboard, and none look blown. All the tops are flat, as they should be. Same for the Power Supply. Any other suggestions?

Okay, I have now replaced the RAM with a new stick + re-installed a fresh copy of windows XP. But the Error Still remains!!!

I will keep this forum updated with my progress (or rather, this computer's seemingly ability to defy logic)

Delete the "USER DATA TEMP" File in local disk documents and settings and then delete the minidump folder in the windows folder and this should solve your problems. I havent had that problem now for about 8 months. Worked for me maybe it'll work for you. Good luck hope it works.

Every time I log on to my user an error pops up...it says:

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini011204-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Cody\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

I have some ideas on how to fix it but does anyone else? Please Help!!!!
