I have a Microsoft Works icon on my desktop -i dont know how it got there--if i right click on it nothing happens...there is no way to remove the icon...any suggestions???? It is a rectangle with 4 colored squares and if u left click it makes weird noises

If you just hover your mouse over the icon you should get info on the program location. Otherwise you could try getting the display properties up - (right click on the desktop & choose Properties) Then under 'desktop' choose 'customise desktop' & in there choose 'clean up' - lets you get rid of unwanted desktop items

Maybe it is a gray colored icon that is always on top of everything.
It is called Microsoft Works Portfolio.I have found that you can uncheck it in the "Startup" tab in the "System Configuration Utility". To open this, click START, then RUN,
then type: msconfig , then click OK.
Find the the "Startup Item" that you want to
dispose of, and uncheck "wkssb.exe".NOW, every time you start your computer, a dialoge box will appear saying that you have made changes to your computer. SO, in it, check the box for "Do not tell me again" (or what ever it said).
