Can anybody help me, I have upgraded to win xp with a clean install, only to find that the first versions of xp shipped with out microsoft virtual machine. Can anybody tell me how to get a copy, I have updated xp at microsoft, it says that I don't need any more updates, but I still don't have a java enabled browser.

I went to this link http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/VM.htm
but this is only an update for people who have previously had microsoft VM. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanx in advance
Mick

The Windows XP SP1 included the Microsoft Virtual Machine. If you updated to SP1 you should have the Microsoft VM. If you went ahead and updated to SP1a you lost the Microsoft VM as shown at the link below.

The Microsoft VM (build 3810) from the "http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/VM.htm" should install as many others have installed it.

thanks for the input but the program gets a stop and says "this setup will only upgrade over an existing version of the microsoft VM" then it says setup is complete, I reeboot, and nothing no entry into internet options/advanced, nothing.

I have tried installing Suns java package but that doesn't like my system.

Need help again

Mick, Try downloading & installing the one here.

If you want to download the Java VM from here and you do not have a Java VM installed at all, you can download a version here. You will then need to use one of the below to update the Java VM to the latest version.

Then update it for XP at the same page.

Choose the link below for your operating system to update the Microsoft Java VM to the latest version:

Windows XP

Here's the link.
