Hi,
I'm an engineering Student. We work with Ms Sql server 2000 in our college labs to get familiar with database queries n so on. I wanted to Learn this at home more practically so i got a copy of this Sql 2000 from my college n installed in my pc but it does not run properly. It shows some error w.r.t connection failure to server.
So i uninstalled it n downloaded Sql express edition from ms webpage http://msdn2.microsoft.com/hi-in/ex...
it got perfectly installed. But its totally different from the one i'm used to. (2000)
In the start menu only Ms SQL server 2005>config tools>config mngr, error reporter n manager is available. I cannot find the QUERY ANALYSER the main work area thats available in sql 2000 where we run queries. Please help! How do i use MS Sql 2005?? How do i start the query analyser in 2005? Sorry for the trouble...N ya, Thanks very much!

madhan, afraid I can't offer you more than a guess which is that the proggie you're used to stores info on the college mainframe and needs to be connected to it in order to update. Do you offer that connection at home? Can you edit the storage addy?

madhan, perhaps I need to clarify, my guess is that the copy of the server that you have expects to find database info at an address on the school's mainframe. When it can't find that address on your home system, it balks. My guess is that the cure is to have it look somewhere else for that data or just ignore the fact that it's missing. A change to be made in the programming.
