Microsoft Speech Recognition V5.1 wont work

October 15, 2010 at 06:02:17
Specs: Windows XP
I've installed Microsoft English Recognition v5.1 and when i go to start > control panel > speech > It says that it is properly installed BUT this is the only place where it doesnt register my mic. Like when i want to train my computer, no sound input is recogniced. Even when i press the other tab, i cant hear anything when microsoft sam is reading text, but all other sound from youtube fx i can hear fine. My headset is mini jacks, but everything is plugged in properly and I know it is not my headset that is the problem, i can hear all other sounds, and i know it is not my microphone because i use my mic on skype everyday to talk to my freind.

What Microsoft English Recognition v5.1 are you talking about? Is THIS what you have downloaded & installed and failed to make it work? If that is it I guess you do need to re-read the intended purpose of this file HERE.

By the way I am aware you also have posted the same question elsewhere as well as (See link below)

Yeh i posted elsewhere too so that there would be better chances for an answer, is that bad? I just figured if this was a buisy site someone else could help i dont see how that is wrong. Sorry. :)
Okay didnt know that there were different types it just says "microsoft english recognizer v5.1" in the speech option in control panel. This is where is got it
I didn't have it on my XP when i installed it so i just googled it and got it there. I downloaded it again to find a more specific name. Inquisit Speech Recognition Components i think is another name for it, but i cant seem to find out more. Do you know this? If there is another speech engine i should have instead, can you provide a link? :)
