i cannot open most attachments in microsoft outlook xp, because they may contain a virus. the files are not viral, how do i turn this feature off, or how can i open the attachment?

this is not outlook express, its ms outlook xp

This doc will explain how to change the security settings in OL2002 so that you will be able to save attachments to HD and open from there. Your attachments have not been stripped from OL2002, just hidden. With these changes you can see the attachment but you must save to HD before opening.
