At work I use Outlook all day for my emails and appointments, but there's somehting that's been bugging me for ages that I can't for the life of me find a solution for.

When I create a new email, as soon as I start to type an email address into the 'To...' field, a list of matching addresses that I've used in the past pops up so that I can save time by selecting the address and automatically pasting it into the box.

This is usually very helpful, except the list also contains loads of old email addresses that are no longer valid and that I used months ago. I assumed that maybe this list was somehow tied into my Contacts list of email addresses, but I've checked and it seems that this drop down list is still displaying contacts that have long since been deleted from my address book.

Is there a simple way clear this list (I'm assuming it's an MRU list) or even edit it so that I can remove old contacts and keep the list trimmed to dispaly only current contacts?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the feedback John, but I've already researched this subject extensively and tried literally hundreds of tips found through Google (including the ones you posted) and have had no luck yet.

That's why I'm in need of expert help, 'cause my own research hasn't been any good yet :-(

Thanks anyway though.

Hi,
When you type the first letter and the list shows, just hold the delete key down on your keyboard and all those beginning with that letter will be romoved from the list.

Ironically enough, the day that Bobhome solved my problem is also that day that two minutes later I found the official Microsoft support for this exact issue after weeks of fruitless searching.

Here's the link in case anyone needs it for future reference.

Thanks again guys.
