Does anyone know how to install Office 2000 Professional Edition on Windows XP Home Edition? I read that its possible to do but I have tried but the cd isnt being read properly from the hard drive and error message keeps coming up (error1305. error reading from file:) and it cant read whatever files that come up. I tried using the compatibility wizard but that didnt work either unless i was doing it wrong but I doubt it cause I did several times. Does anyone have any advice on how to install this?

Hi,
I'm running Win XP Professional and have Office 2000 installed. I didn't run into any problems installing it. Check out this article. It applies to the error message you're receiving:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q218617
Good luck!

I installed Office Pro 2000 on both XP HE and Pro with no problem. If the above post doesn't help, you may be having a h/w problem. One possibility is memory. If all else fails, go to www.teresaudio.com and get mamtest86. It will find bad ram if you have it.

I am no expert,
Open Event Viewer, find event number, open its properties. This will give you a link to Microsoft for what that event means.

Ive run both and I am running office 97 pro and 2000 pro as well as office xp pro for compatibly with my customers Try using custom install and be careful on the machro addins use the basic install Remember XP does not have DOS only an emulater for DOS
just a thought!

Alexander,
==========================================The other day I was called to a friend family helping them to install a program because the installation would not work, the CD-ROM drive would not read properly and gave some reading errors. The family has 4 small children and I found a lot of fingerprints on the CD. After cleaning the CD it all run fine. So cleaning a CD does sometimes wonders. Even a very little something on the CD can cause a reading problem.
Cheers de Peter
