OS: xp professional
CPU/Ram: amd athlon xp 1700+/256

i uninstalled microsoft office 2003 then when i tried to install it again i got a message that says "this patch package could not be opened. verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor
to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package"
any help?

Sounds like you have a bodgy copy.

Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

After, uninstall of Office 2003.
Go back to C:/program files/and delete the remaining Microsoft Office folder.
Reboot and then try reinstall.
