When trying to place or take a program from the network folder that has been transfered from a different computer on the network, I get the following error message from Microsoft Error Reporting which has been turned off, so technically this shouldnt even occur:

Windows Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Error Signature
AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: shell32.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2800.1233 Offset: 000c745f

Now granted the computer that is having the problems is older, but has never exhibited any problems before and even runs current software including games etc with no problems so this is very peculiar.
Thank you.

Microsoft Error Reporting is a component of XP Services. Run services.msc to disable it, save & reboot.

Yes I know and already did, thats why it seems strange that it is still able to function, I also went into error reporting under system properties and disabled that and yet it still occurs.

It shouldn't happen. In any event try disable it via Windows registry. I hope you're familiar with it, are you?

Once it's done, cold reboot for the change to take effect

Absolutely. I've been doing it for age. However editing windows registry isn't for the faint-heart. Doing something wrong can potentially stop Windows from loading again.

Some readup first is here

That is for sure, I am good with the registry and havent had any problems with it for the years that I have been working with computers, but am not a wizard by any means.

It went fine, but with all of that sometimes the screen will reset if I was doing something that I might get an error message, dumping everything that I was doing and puting me back to the desktop, shouldnt that have been eliminated as well?

Sorry,
I changed the registry values in the key to 0 and rebooted, but while testing it out, when I would do the same thing that would normally trigger an error reporting event, it will crash to the desktop which is what it was doing before, and I thought that with all of the changes that this would stop.

This is strange. How long has this been going on (Error reporting)? If it was recent, try system restore to a date before it first occurred.

Not long, I wanted to put this computer on the same internet service as my main one is and are both on the same network and that is where the problems started, see my earlier thread for details titled 'WinXP Login Freeze?'
Unfortunately I turn system restore off as its a resource hog and its easier for me to just do a hard drive format and then a ghost. I guess it maybe time to retire the old system.
