Hi, It would really help if you'd provide some specs. No one can help you otherwise.

Forgive me if you already have done this but have you checked the device has not been set as "mute" (has happened to me)?
To do this :-
1) Pull up the Control Panel 2) Select Sound, Speech and Audio Devices 3) In the top left of the ensuing screen, click the Advanced Volume Control icon. 4) Select the Options menu 5) Select Properties 6) Underneath "Show the following volume controls" scroll down to Microphone, and ensure there is a tick in the box (if not, click the box) 7) Click OK 8) Underneath the Microphone volume selector, ensure Mute is not checked. If it is, click in the box to un-check it. 9) Close down the Volume Control applet by clicking the Close icon [X].
Hope this helps (sorry if it is longwinded).
