Please help me to adjust my microfone sound as when speaking is not heard. I use Realtek AC97 sound card and operate in Windows XP professional. All tests were done in the system were correct but still this problem exists.

Try this.

1) Go to Control Panel
Click on "Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices"

2) Click on Sounds and Audio Devices
Click on Advanced

The Play Control Panel window opens

3) Click Options
4) Click on Properties
5) Select Recording

You'll see boxes, some with check marks others unchecked. Look for the on that has Line-in and it will have a level you can adjust. (this box should be checked. If it isn't, click over the unchecked box with your mouse and it you'll see a check mark in there). Click Ok.

Now, you'll be set to record, but do one more thing.

After you check it, go back to the Properties (the way you did above) but this time I want you to click on Playback.

Click Ok and you'll see the Play Control Window. Make sure that Line In on the playback is checked, which will mute it.
The reason you want this is because if you record through the mic while the Line in on "Play Back" is not muted, you will hear your voice come through the speakers. So, when you record into the mic, your voice will carry through over the speakers, which will end up making your recording sound distorted on playback.

Let me know if this helps.
