Microphone records output!

I got quite a problem.

I've installed some software for "converting" files by recording them. Didn't really realize it at first, but it uses my microphone for it. Now if I go use my mic in games and such, it just records and sends whatever also comes out of my loudspeakers, and it doesn't use the mic-jack what so ever.

Troubleshooting: I've tried to re-install drivers, shut down and removing the software, but nothing helps.

I've heard that there's some possibilities of changing the placements where the mic-mix should catch sound from in some secret menus in windows xp, but do anybody know anything of this?
Any other solutions, without reformatting and restoring everything?

Go to start, all programs, accessiores, system tools, system restore. And restore your pc back to a date before you installed the software.
