When i bought my computer it had a nice feature with the microphone, it was so that i could have the microphone on, talk into it, and not hear the sound in the speakers while i was talking, i recently turned my laptop into warranty and now this feature is gone, does anyone know how i could set it up to not send the sound through the speakers yet have the microphone on so that when im doing voice conversations the person can still hear me

There are usually two microphone settings in the volume control and mixer, one in playback and one in recording. Disable the one in play back and enable the one in recording.
