Hi.
Same computer ran 98se and mic worked fine. Now I run XP pro and No mic.I unmuted the mic.I checked the mic boost box.
heres the really strange thing,I have tv in this computer,if I plug the tv input into the mic input I still hear sound.so the input works.I tryed 2 diff mics also.I hear the tv when its plugged into the line in or the mic input, but hear no mic input when plugged into either.I read elsewhere on here where someone mentioned I might need a powered mic?But I didnt need it befour,so why would I need it now?is this a XP thing?lol
thanks for any help

Are you using any other program like Goldwave (or another music editing program) to edit tunes? The reason I ask is that I use Goldwave and had the same problem as you are experiencing. I had the line in checked and it disabled my mic. So all I did was select the microphone setting and it worked.

I also up-graded from 98se to XP.
Hope that helps you.

Business as usual
