Hello, on my comp the microphone seems to work perfectly fine when just being used by itself, but say if windows media player is playing a song in the background and you try to use the mic, it only pics up what's coming from media player and it's extremely loud and distorted. I've turned off things like mic boost and lowered all kinds of volume settings. Could it be line interference from the speakers to the mic? This happens even if media player is very low. The sounds still comes out loud and distorted. Any thoughts please let me know. Thank you.

If it was me, I would try another sound card.

Could be feedback from the speakers to the Mic.
They could be placed further apart, or turn down
pickup volume of the Mic in Windows Volume Control.

Hello, thank you for all the responses so far. Well the sounds card is built into the motherboard so hopefully that's not the case. Also, I've turned down the mic sensitivity and made sure that the mic boost wasn't on. It's a really odd thing considering of used it perfectly fine previously. Any more info is very welcome. Thank you.

did you try a headset? That would illiminate any outside sounds like your mic and the speakers feeding back.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Actually, the reason I'm using the mic and speakers is because I like to play around and do some karaoke. Kinda silly, but fun I think. So that's why I wouldn't be able to use a headset. I get the background to songs through the speakers using WMP and record with the mic using musicmatch jukebox. I've done it fine before, I just can't imagine what the mic problem is now. Thank you all so far though.
