My mic stopped working, Im not sure of the exact time it stopped working. I have just recently wanted to use it again. It has been about 5 months since i have used it. I called dell there solution was to Reinstall XP, now after having it for 2 years i dont want to do that and start over. I have tried EVERYTHING i can think of, the mic is not muted, when i record the playback is extremly faint, when i have the volume on high. The sound card i have is integrated with the motherboard its a SoundMAX driver. I have updated and it still does not work i have rolled it back to an older version it does not work. does anyone have any suggestions for me??

Just a thought, have you installed any programs since it stopped working, cause they might be using the mic for another program function. Are your audio properties both the same as far the sound device max on the properites tab for speakers and mic input.

Is the Mic un-muted in Volume Control.
If Microphone is not displayed in V.C., then click Options, then Properties, check mark the Mic box to get it displayed.
