hey list,
I have some mht files saved back 3 years ago. Just recently trying to open them. But when I open the file it goes online to look for the webpage. of course those pages are not there anymore. so I got 'can't find webpage' message.
why is this happening? I can't open any of them now. but I am sure the file is saved correctly. Is there a way to recover those files? please help.
Thanks.

Everett,
Thanks for your post.
I think I understand the idea of converting absolute link and relative link. but I have no idea where I can spot them and make the conversion.
Is there any article around stating how to do it?

thanks.

Thanks Everett.
Those article are too technical for me to be able to fully understand. I only wanted to recover those MHT files. I tried to alter some links as it was stated, but have no clue whatsoever so I guess I am not doing it right.
Is there any ways easier just to rescue those MHT files still goes on line to find its content?

shinjan: right-click the mht file and select Open, then select Office to open the file and if that doesn'r work, select Internet Explorer.
some of the links may be flawed, either internally or the external links may have changed.
some things to try;

1. right- click the displayed .mht file in IE and choose "User Defined" encoding.
can also enable User Defined encoding using IE View, Encoding, More, User Defined.

2. open an IE window and click File-->Open. then browse to your MHT file.

3. upgrade IE to IE6 SP1.

let us know what worked for you...

Hey,
I have my IE up to date.
Tried the rest 2 ways, no luck.
IE still goes online to find the website. It might be flawed when I saved it... :(
Thanks for the help though.
