Messenging program

Looking for a free or cheap messenging program to install on our clients so they can send/read messages when they are online or offline. We don't want to use MSN or yahoo messenger as this it for internal network only, did found a free program but if their machines are turned off they don't get it. Any help much apprieciated

Well, there is Java Messaging Service. that has queue distribution for machines that are not turned on. The message will be delivered as soon as machine is turned back on. Being offline just means that the client is working from a stored copy of a weblink but is still connected to the router/server thus should still be able to get any internal messages that are sent through the private network.

Not really sure how to use it, is there something I can download and install on the system tray so people can send messages interenally even if their machines is turned off?
