I accidently messed up my registry with TCP optimizer and now my internet speed is HORRIBLE. Is there anyway I can download the default registry? I have a backup of it but I dont know how to put it in the registry. Its just a bunch of numbers and stuff. Thanks!!

Use whatever tool you used to back it up to simply restore the backup file.

Next time though - creating a restore point (via system restore) is an easier alternative, if you are not comfortable with the registry process.

ben2007, If you created a registry or a registry key backup and it's a .reg file either double click that .reg file or right click that .reg file and choose "merge". You could also do a System Restore as orbital recommended. Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

I'm assuming you meant .reg file Not .seg file.

Rigjt click on it and choose "merge".

ben, Found this at the link below.

13. How do I revert my settings to a previous state ?

To revert any changes made to your system using the TCP Optimizer, go in its "File" pull-down menu and choose "Restore Windows Default Settings", or even "Restore backed up settings".

TCP Optimizer version 2 (and later) makes an automatic backup of the settings it changes the first time you run it. It creates a file of this form "sg_backup_2005-05-11-0903.spg" in the same directory where the program resides.

Response to #13: As I understand, it was not the TCP/IP optimizer that was the cause of the problem ( though I do not advise about using such programs ). But you messed with the modem settings. So you say "rest" but I understand you mean "reset". Is it an external modem ?
