Hi Justin,
Is there any way that those popups (certain words in a post)can be moved off of a post (like to the left or the right) because sometimes they pop up and you have to try several times to click on a link because of the intrusion. It also happens when I try to copy and paste something in a post.
What happens is that the popups are right in the middle of the post and it gets pretty hard to work with the post.
Thanks, oh, and by the way, this is an excellent forum!! Sure has helped alot of people

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Hello,

The copy and paste isn't going to be able to be helped, that's just part of the advertising. I don't think those popups can be moved in the way you are thinking. However, I might be able to get the amount of time they are up after someone mouses off reduced.

I'll see.

Justin

I'm not sure, but I guess so, the ones that get underlined with green in a post. Why, do you know how to eliminate them sabertooth or maybe keep them from popping up?

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I assume those ads do help maintain the site, by how much I can't say.

However, if you want to eliminate them, all you need to do is add *.intellitxt.com to the restricted sites listing within your internet options.

xpuser4real: What Internet Browser do you use? Reason being, I use Firefox and an extension called Adblock eliminates the popups in all sites, plus it updates itself with the latest filters for newer pop ups. If you're with IE, well, I wish I could help.

gilloz,

Thanks for the heads-up about Adblock.
I always found the intellitxt ads annoying, but thought I'd just have to live with them.
The Adblock extension removes them completely.
Great stuff!!

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

As soon as the text appears in a Post, I hit the
ESC key, to stop loading the page. That, most of the time, stops Sponsor Links from appearing.

intellitxt ads? I haven't seen any on my PC. Abnormal posted Site Advisor Public Release regarding CN. The rating? We tested this site (see this diagram) and didn't find any significant problems. Notice that the diagram doesn't include intellitxt ads.

Hello everyone,

Good Afternoon XpUser,

Not sure why you are not seeing them unless you are using Firefox and the plugin mentioned earlier by gilloz. I am quite certain you are using IE7.

Here is a screenshot clearly showing the intellitxt.

When clicking on the ? next to IntelliTXT in the right corner of the advertisement you are linked to here.

Hi XpUser,

Bad example in my last response as the advertisement was for and provided by intellitxt.

Here is a better example.

Hi mesich Hi everyone ..
my bad oh yes I also get those damn intellitxt popups. For me it's a never-ending challenge to keep navigating my mouse cursor away from those double underlined keywords in the posts. I just didn't realize intellitxt is the name of that damn popup. I doubt Justin invented it.

Hello,

Mesich is right. Those are the intellitxt ads. I'm not sure why you have such a problem with them. If you don't mouse over, they won't popup.

Hi sabertooth, I tried that putting *.intellitxt.com into the restricted sites and the darn things still pop up....weird!
Thanks for the suggestion.
gilloz, I'm using IE. I also have firefox but it has alot of quirks about it that I don't like. One thing is that when I have my homepage set to yahoo, every time I open my homepage, this box comes down at the top trying to shove the yahoo toolbar on me. There's a place to put a checkmark in that says don't show me this again so I check it, and voila, the next time I open the homepage, that damned bar comes down again...real annoying! That doesn't happen with IE

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

The commercials are harmless in my opinion. Besides without that type of advertising we would have to provide our creditcard info in order to keep enjoying this site.
And I hate having to disclose any type of CC info on the net.

by the way, haven't you noticed that the ads are somewhat transparent like NVidia software?

Now if you really want to remove them you might try Stylish and enter code or use userContent.css

OVERRIDE, if you try to click on a link that is in a post and the ad keeps popping up in front of it continuosly (not allowing you to click on the link), wouldn't that annoy you?

Now to your removal solution, can you please elaberate on that and maybe put it in layman's terms?
Thanks

I don't think I've ever had that problem no.

Now, to elaborate on the solution, I rather provide you with a link, lol, then having to type a whole lot. Besides I don't think I've ever posted a clickable link on any of my posts. I always provide unclickable links, I guess I don't even know how. Maybe one day you'll tell me how. I hope your mouse manuevering skills will be able to highlight it. So, in the sense of trying to help out others here's the link:

XPUser,

I'm not sure why the restricted sites route did not work for you, I primarily use Maxthon and it certainly got rid of it on that and the other IE-linked browsers. Now JOOC, I removed *.intellitxt.com and the ads are not even coming back (not disappointed) in messages.

In any case, I'll go ahead and add it back to the list.

XPUser: Go to Google or Yahoo and type in "Adblock Filter List", without the quotes, and download the Filter List for Subscription by Rick 752 and install it. This will update the filter list for newer ads that may come up. Follow the on-screen direction on how to install. Works great. Glad to be of some help.

Just pretend you are driving in England and keep to the left of the thread. No popups.

Besides, I think I counted 12 or 13 of them in a total of the above 22 postings.

In counting them I waved over several of them and found that they may actually come in handy such as the link to FireFox or 14 day trial version of LiveMeeting when waving over "software".
