ok im trying to merge two partitions together using partition magic but it is not working....these two partitions is on one physical hard drive, i want to merge C: and E: into one hard drive (a resulting C: drive) the E: drive has absolutely nothing in it and it is formatted in ntfs...but the problem is when i try to merge using partition magic 8.0, it gives me an error when its about to merge (error 1513) i tried uninstall and reinstalling the program but it didnt work....can someone help? also is there any other way to merge these partitions without using partition magic?

If Drive E: has nothing on it, just delete its partion and then extend drive C: to fill the ensuing free space.
Merging is only really useful when both partitions have information you want to keep.

If the partition has nothing in it, delete it. Then just add the unallocated space to the first partition.

Using partition magic.

What's on Drive D: ?
I believe to merge the two partitions, they basically have to be right next to each other. So if Drive D is another partition, you have to move it to the right side of the deleted Drive E. Then you can merge the drives (C and E)

If the two partitons are C and E I would guess that drive D is another Primary partion on another physical disk and Drive E is an extended partion. If this is the case, then they cannot be merged. You cannot merge a Primary partition and an extended Partition. In that case deleting Drive E and the extended partition is the only option if you want to use the whole the disk for one partition.
I have never used Partition Magic but I am sure there must be an option there to extend a partition. It would be pretty usless if there isn't as it is a fairly easy function to perform. A lot easier then merging two partitions.

darkmanx4lf,
IMHO, if I were you, I'd stay away from PM after reading many threads reporting all kinds of problems.
Assuming that your two partitions are on one physical hard drive, you can use Windows XP Disk management tool in lieu of PM. For further info, look here

I don't believe the Disk Management tools in XP allow you to extend a partition into free space. You can create, delete and format partitions, but thats about all.
