Memory Upgrade

Comment:
I have a Gateway MT6154 laptop with Windows XP Pro. I've upgraded the RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB. The bios and CPU-Z reports there is 4 GB installed, but the system properties reports 2.62 GB.
I know that XP has the 4 GB limitation, but why is it reporting 2.62? Is there anything I can do? I've updated the bios to the most current version. Ref: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555223/

Make sure you're running the 64bit windows XP instead of the 32 bit windows xp because technically, the 32 bit version only allows up to 3GB

4GB is not an XP limitation, it's a 32-bit OS limitation. And the amount of that 4GB that's actually available for use by the OS depends on the hardware installed.
