Comment:

I've been searching the web and many different forums for a solution, but I have yet to find a useful fix.

I constantly recieve:

Application popup: wmplayer.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x021c8a68" referenced memory at "0x85aa77d0". The memory could not be "read".

It happens with a number of different applications (including explorer.exe, windows media player, aim, nero, etc.), but the memory locations are different each time. I formatted a little while back and before the format I never had a problem ever. I tried sfc and virtual memory settings, however I'm open to trying different virtual memory settings. I'd like to reinstalling only as a last resort.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tested your ram at PC Pitstop or by using a memory test program? Be sure to check that they are seated or remove them and then reseat them, just to make sure they are secure?

I labored under the same problem until happened to uninstall Panda Antivirus (Titanium 2004) which eliminated the problem. (However it's recommended you do a clean WinXP install, because Panda uninstall shield just doesn't do it's work and other problems arise.)

I get the same error with Explorer, and very simple VB applications. Microsoft says to install a service pack, but i'm completely up to date. I've tried virus scans, worm scans, trojan scans, but it still happens. Does anybody out there know what could be causing this and how to stop it?
