XP Pro with SP1
1133 Tbird
256 Megs DDR
Abit G2Lately I've noticed in Task Manager that PF Usage is 250 to 320 Megs, and Explorer.exe, svchost.exe and iexplorer.exe are using 40,000k each. Also low Virtual Memory warnings. iexplorer.exe eventually went lower just know?
I have minimal startup apps and services running. I have ran SFC and Restored.
My guess is flakey ram, which I would like to check, but how? I can't format floppys for some reason ("unable to complete format" message, reads and copies to floppy though?), so I can't use Memtest.
Any help? Thanks.

You list explorer.exe and iexplore.exe. Which one is giving you problems? iexplorer.exe is Internet Explorer. 40mb usage doesn't seem terribly high if you have a lot of windows open. Mine is using about 23mb right now with several windows open.
My SVCHOST is using around 27mb.

Never used Kazaa, have DC though(been using it for years), but haven't had it on in months, don't see where this is related though?
I would say neither explore.exe or iexplore.exe is giving me problems, but the memory usage is simply too high. Right now iexplore.exe is at 40,500k with one window open, earlier today I had 4 windows open and it was at 7,500k. I remember my PF Usage was around 75 Megs before.
I've heard its possibly a leaky kernel, if thats possible? I demoed Perfectdisk and ran the defrag, so maybe theres a relation there, dunno, but the restore was to before I installed it. Since uninstalled it.
Will probably have to reinstall windows.
