media player unresponsive- worked f

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 694 MHz / 254 MB
i just pulled my system out of shop- - it has been upgraded with a 120 gig maxtor from a 10 gig maxtor and downgraded to a combo cdrom/rw from two drives
upon reloading system- everything is fully upgraded

windows media player goes unresponsive and ie 7 has been doing same thing- resets ie settings and knocked out add ons improved

what do i do about media player?

Media player needs a lot more ram to operate fully now. Try reducing some of the fan fare from the add-ons and see if it and IE 7 both smooth out and runs better.

You might try downloading the free program
winpatrol
and use it to sort out all the programs that are running in the background... disable them from starting with the computer. you will find that most need only to be stsrted on demand and not when the computer starts up
