Howdy. On a friend's machine I get the following error when I try to play any audio or video on the web with WMP 8 and 9:
"Windows Media Player cannot play this file. Connect to the Internet or insert the removable media on which the file is located, and then try to play the file again."
ATT cable connection. I can play local files fine. Audio will stream in other players. No firewalls or proxies are present. Upgrading to WMP 9 did not help. Have not tried system restore yet, any other ideas? Thanks.

Yep best bet try sys restore, did it USED to work before now? If not then you dont want a system restore its a software problem. Try going to www.microsoft.com/tech this should give you any advice needed but yeah id do sys restore personally. Good Luck!
