media player not playing wmv file

Hi, There is this .wmv file a friend sent a while ago. I could play the file earlier using windows media player 9. Now it does not play. I get a message stating that i'm trying to open a file of a different format. The problem is with this file only, as i'm able to play other wmv files. I'm sure nothing was done to the problematic file. Any idea why it dows not play?

Have you tried to reinstall Media player ?
Sounds like some conflict between media player and any other player on your machine. Have you installed anything since the last time it worked. Try to remember and then uninstall it, and see if it works then ?
