Media Player Neccessary?

Is it neccessary to have Media Player installed? I used Windows Update to use Media Player 10 but i'd rather use version 9. so is there anyway to either delete it or downgrade to an older version?

Dunno which version is part of XP, but try removing the player in control panel - add/remove programs - windows components.
Then add it via the same route.
You may need to disable the XP restore "feature" while you're doing this.

Media Player wasn't in the add/remove programs list but i actually forgot to tick the 'Show Updates' box and it showed in that, which rolls it back to version 9. Thanks anyway!
