i am using WMP 8 but it looks like i may have to upgrade after all. Suddenly, all my audio tracks r 44 Bytes. i am compiling a cd and as u know u can drag & drop in WMP 8. i need say 2 or 3 tracks off selected cds to compile another. when i select tracks and click 'Add to playlist' . Nogo. nothing there. they wont copy. All cds play normally thru WMP and i can copy all or selected tracks fm one CD to another. the burner is fine. i dont think i have a plyr library now altho the db file is in its place.
i copied 2 or 3 tracks from cd to hd Type: CDAudio Track Size: 44 Bytes each one is the same.when i select all>play selection, a box comes up asking me where i want to move the items to!!! All tracks have the WMP icon but if i click open there is no error code but WMP says 'cannot play back file....format not supported' (these tracks r copied to HD).
Lets see. i have a music cd in drive now.... playing ok in WMP click open or play no probs. but mouse hover or properties reveals all tracks as Type: CDAudio Track Size: 44 Bytes. which (as said b4) if i copy them they wont play naturally at on 44 Bytes. i think the problem arose when i deleted the wmp library v 0 12 db file the other day. i have one in All users>App Data> Media index size: 21mb.
and 3 still in the bin all 224kb in size. should i replace the current one with one from 'the bin'? would this correct things. I do have WMP 9 on the xpmagazine CD, if all else fails. tell me tho, if i install WMP series 9 then roll back as i had to once b4, this library problem will still b there. i u/std u cant uninstall media plyr other than do a SR which would bring me back to the current ver 8 - with the library problem.
Should i go ahead and install MP 9 and hope the problem will be solved. Finally, i have MP hotfix 828026 installed but i dont know for which version. i think ive xplained evrything, hope someone can put me right. this isnt a major problem rite now but i cant compile CDs w/o it. i can wait. Tx in advance again.

It sounds like you are opening your CD in My Computer then copying the files to your hard drive - that doesn't work with CDAudio files because those files are decoded in the actual CD drive... so CDAudio tracks only work if they are being played from a CD. If you want a copy of your CD tracks on your hard drive, you have to "rip" the CD - convert the CDAudios to MP3 or something else that can be read by the computer. You can do that in Windows Media Player. Go to Copy from CD and then click Copy Music. It will convert the CD to WMA files and create a folder for your CD in My Documents\My Music.
