I am having trouble getting about half my songs in my music folder to play over the network. It is all very random about which songs will not play. All folders and songs are open to all on the network. They play fine on my computer, but not on the network. All I get is a message saying media player can't access the file. I have covered all the areas the help area tells you to look at, but everything checks out. I have turned off all firewalls and still it will not access the file. Any idea what to do?

Hello Pat; I don't really know too much about Media Player; I did use it briefly, until I discovered Winamp. Have you ever tried Winamp?
I have found Winamp to be superior to Media Player in audio / video performance; and Winamp simply blows Media Player away with exceptional user options, and of course, audio quality.
Maybe you ought to give it a shot; maybe it could solve the difficulties you're experiencing with Media Player. My Winamp has been rock solid in performance since I installed it......hope this helps you a little bit. Take care!
